Been holding out for Kepler? Well, here’s a bit of encouraging news…
Swedish computer site Sweclockers is reporting that the GeForce GTX 670 Ti AKA GK104 is on track for release “after Cebit, but before April”, which is around March 11 to 31. It seems like the GTX 670 Ti will be in competition with the AMD Radeon HD 7800 series which is also rumored to be released in March.
What’s highly interesting is that their sources are also reporting the GeForce GTX 670 Ti will perform better than the GeForce GTX 580 and the Radeon HD 7950, which if priced right would make this a very compelling purchase for those looking to buy a HD 7950 or HD 7970 in the near future. Of course, this also means that the HD 7970 will probably be holding the single GPU performance crown until Nvidia releases their flagship Kepler GPU.
As rumored, the GK104 is expected to contain 1536 CUDA cores, 128 TUs, 32 ROPs, 2GB of GDDR5 running on a 256 bit memory interface, and a 950MHz Core / 5.0GHz Memory clock. What does all this mean? Well, not much since Nvidia is also reportedly revamping their graphics architecture for Kepler, so it’s definitely going to be hard to even guess what kind of performance we’ll see. Oh these are all rumors anyway, so take everything with a grain of salt. Otherwise, hop over to the links below and stay tuned…
