Synology America Corp. today announced the most recent update of its entry-level 4-bay DiskStation, the DS413j. The DS413j makes an ideal addition to home networks.
“The DS413j makes for a great upgrade for home users,” said Jason Bonoan, Product Marketing Manager at Synology America Corp. “With everything that DSM brings to the table, it makes for an extremely affordable private cloud solution.” DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.1 brings a host of features to enable users’ private cloud, from folder synchronization to enhanced multimedia streaming services.
Cloud Station has been updated to support synching of files up to 5GB each. Up to two shared folders can be synched at any one time, each with separate users.
Video Station is lets users to manage and view videos locally and remotely. DS video allows iOS devices to conveniently manage and view videos.
With support for both public and private music libraries, Audio Station allows users to share music. DS audio allows iOS and Android devices to stream music from wherever they are.
Photo Station offers users a photo sharing web-site which they control. The new Timeline feature allows for sorting pictures chronologically and with geo-tagging.
Other convenient features include:

- · Backup support for Windows, Mac, and mixed environments
- · Quick Connect allows connecting to some services remotely, and eliminates the need for port forwarding
