Building on the success of the Black², Western Digital recently showed off a prototype of a new hybrid drive at Storage Visions 2015.
Designed for desktop and gaming applications, the still unnamed drive uses a next generation SATA Express connector, and combines 128GB of solid state storage along with 4TB of traditional hard drive storage in a single 3.5″ enclosure. Like the Black², the upcoming hybrid drive is expected to use the JMicron JMF667H controller.
