Within 24 hours of AMD’s Ryzen 7 1800X, Ryzen 7 1700X, and Ryzen 7 1700 announcement, pre-orders for the newly announced CPUs quickly drove the three new products to Amazon’s CPU Best Seller’s list despite the fact that the CPUs aren’t even expected to ship until March 2nd.
While pre-order rankings and information has been limited from other vendors, similar numbers may have also been seen across the industry as a recent article by Digitimes reports that AMD’s initial shipment of Ryzen CPUs are expected to top one million units. Motherboard makers are also expected to cash in on AMD Ryzen’s historic return to performance computing as shipments of AMD AM4 motherboards are also initially expected to top one million as well. AMD motherboard partners have already planned over 80 new motherboards based on the AMD X370 and B350 chipsets.
AMD is also expected to announce several new products following Ryzen later this year. The list includes AMD’s next generation enthusiast class GPUs, codename Vega, AMD’s Zen based server platform, codename Naples, Ryzen for notebooks, and Radeon Instinct, designed for machine learning and deep learning applications.
