The next major feature update for Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system is here.
The Windows 10 Fall Creator’s Update brings a long list of improvements and new features. Finally integrated is the long-promised desktop chat integration for contacts from LinkedIn and Skype, as well as a new Android and iPhone linking feature. You won’t be able to respond to text messages, but you’ll be able send browser sessions from your phone directly to your desktop for future viewing.
AR, or Augmented Reality, is also receiving a lot of love. The Fall Creators Update will prepare your system to be AR ready right off the get-go, no setup required. Launching in parallel is a host of inexpensive AR headsets, courtesy of collaboration between Microsoft and several major tech companies.
As always, there will be plenty of improvements under the hood, including the new Storage Sense that can better delete residual Windows installation files, as well as an improved Windows Security Center.
Ready to update before it gets pushed out to the general public? You don’t have to wait. The Fall Creators Update is available now using Microsoft’s Update Assistant. Still not convinced? Here’s a full update feature list to hopefully sway your opinion.
Hi! Sorry, but the update assistant says that I already have the last version of Windows 10…
In that case you may already have the latest version. To check, you can hit the Windows Key + X + Y. This will bring up the System menu in the settings. Under version, you should see version 1709.
Nope, I have the 1703’s version. Maybe you should share the direct download link to the version of the assistant that can make the upgrade…
