Hey whats up guys! By request, here’s our take on the best BF3 PC at the most reasonable price.
This machine was designed from the ground up to be as cost efficient as possible while still being able to play Battlefield 3 at 1920×1200 at ultra settings.
CPU – Intel Core i5 2500K
This is one of the best mid range processors and when it comes to value it is unbeatable. Since it is a K edition processor, the multiplier is unlocked to allow additional overclocking if necessary. (Yes, it’s always needed =D) This processor won’t even break a sweat running Battlefield 3.
Motherboard – MSIZ68A-GD65(G3)
This is a Gen 3 motherboard which has many advanced features such as ClickBios II, Military Class II components, Sata 3 6 Gigabits per second, PCI-E 3.0, a 5 year warranty and much more. For a tutorial on how to overclock the i5 2500K with this motherboard, watch the video below. It’s extremely easy!
Memory – Corsair Vengeance 1600MHZ DDR3 Low Profile 1.5v
Again, we’re going with the Corsair Vengeance for ram. Low profile, 1.5v, stable, compatible, and from Corsair. Nuff said.
Video Card – XFX Radeon HD6950 1GB
The HD6950 should be able to run Battlefield 3 very smoothly at ultra settings (Don’t forget to update your drivers) and will still be able to keep the price of the machine very reasonable. Depending on how lucky and how technical you are, you can also unlock some additional shaders on the 6950 and overclock the card to bring it to the performance of the 6970.
Hard Drive – Corsair Force 3 120gb
The Corsair Force 3 is an SSD utilizing the Sandforce SF-2281 chipset making the drive extremely fast. With the current prices of hard drives these days, this is the perfect opportunity to purchase an SSD.
**NOTE** It’s a 180gb version in the video below.
Optical Drive – OEM DVD Drive or OEM Blu Ray Drive (Any Manufacturer)
Basic oem dvd drive for the first installation of Windows. Nothing special here. If you want a blu ray drive, knock yourself out, but i’d rather play Battlefield 3.
PSU – Corsair TX650M V2
High quality Seasonic made power supply. Modular, 650w and includes a 5 year warranty.
Case – NZXT Crafted Series ATX Full Tower Steel Chassis – Phantom White
This is an excellent full tower case with plenty of space for upgrades and plenty of fans. It isn’t expensive either.
CPU Cooler – Hyper 212 Plus
Since we’re planning to overclock the i5 2500k, we’re going to need a cpu cooler and there aren’t many coolers out there that can compete with this thing both cost and performance wise.
Operating System – Windows 7 64 bit
Windows is pretty standard and Battlefield 3 does require Windows 7 so don’t forget to grab a copy if you don’t already have one.
Anyway, that’s the build. If you have any questions, feel free to visit the forums!
