While Amazon Prime Day 2015 was largely a flop due to lackluster deals, Amazon Prime Day 2016 was a smashing hit, surpassing Prime Day 2015 sales by 60% worldwide and 50% in the United States.
Among the highlights, Amazon helped sell 215,000 Instant Pot 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cookers, 200,000 headphones, 90,000+ TV’s, 24,000 Double Hammocks by Vivere, 23,000 iRobot Roomba 614 Vacuum Robots and 14,000 Lenovo laptops. Feedback from third party sellers were incredibly positive with many sellers recording the best sales day they’ve ever had. Ever.
Third party sellers weren’t the only ones benefiting from Amazon’s Prime Day of course as Amazon sold a ton of Amazon branded gear as well – to the tune of 3x compared to Prime Day 2015. The Amazon Echo recorded its best sales day ever, 2.5x more units were sold compared to the previous record day. Similarly 2.5x more Amazon Fire TVs were sold this year compared to 2015.
While Amazon failed to disclose how many new Prime members were registered during this time, I’d assume they broke some records there as well.
