Cooler Master continues to expand its renowned Hyper 212 Series CPU coolers with the release of the Hyper 212X.
The last update the Hyper 212 series received was the Hyper 212 EVO in 2011. While it’s still a fantastic budget cooler, 5 years is a long time without an update.
The Hyper 212X is looking to bring the Hyper 212 line into 2016 with a number of subtle improvements. Cooler Master has added a few “X” shaped indents on the heatsink blade to help improve airflow around the heatpipes. The fan has been updated to one that uses rifle bearings for improved lifespan – and now without the gloss.
Other than that, little has changed besides the price. The Hyper 212X demands $40, a $10 premium over the Hyper 212 EVO. Since this product will most likely replace the Hyper 212 EVO, its price should drop over time.
