Gigabyte has just popped the lid off of its newest creation, the GeForce GTX1080 Turbo OC Edition Graphics card (GV-N1080TTOC-8GD).
Unlike your typical AIB custom designed card, this hot new card comes with a custom built blower-style cooler that sucks air in from inside your case and pushes it out the back. Under the shroud sits a matrix of aluminum cooling fins and 3 direct touch heat pipes which Gigabyte claims will improve cooling performance by 8%. The new pattern design on the custom shroud also adds a splash of color to the typically boring looking blower cooler style shrouds as well.
Specifications align with what you’d expect from a GeForce GTX 1080 including Nvidia’s 14nm GP104 GPU sporting 2560 CUDA cores paired with a 8GB GDDR5X frame buffer running at 10GHz effective on a 256-bit memory bus. The card will also require a single 8-pin power connector for additional power.
Gigabyte seems pretty confident in this new cooler since they will also include a one-click overclocking profile through their XTREME Engine utility. The Gaming Profile is activated by default, which sets your card to a base clock of 1,632MHz and a turbo clock of 1,771MHz which is already a mild overclock over the reference GTX 1080’s 1607 base clock and 1733 boost. Once the one-click OC profile is selected, it pushes your card up to 1,657MHz base and 1,797MHz turbo.
To make sure the card has the best power delivery possible, Gigabyte installed the highest grade capacitors and chokes it could get its hands on. Interestingly enough, Gigabyte also installed a power abnormality indicator light next to the 8-pin power connector to give users a heads up when the juice ain’t right.
